Emir Bayero tasks Rotary Club on polio eradication

THE Emir of Kano, Alhaji (Dr.) Ado Bayero, has enjoined Rotary Club International to offer same assistance as polio eradication to eliminate other diseases which are spreading in the country.
The emir who received a delegation from the club led by Ahmad Sagab Sani, said apart from polio, there are other diseases which are also deadly.
Dr. Bayero said now that polio has its cure, effort should be made in the eradication of other ailments which are also afflicting the society.
The leader of the delegation, Sani had earlier told the emir that they were at his palace to seek his blessing and also to commend him his effort on enlightening his subjects on the importance of immunization against polio.
He said polio is the commonest disease in African countries, Nigeria inclusive, saying however, that with the effort of Rotary Club, the disease has been reduced especially in Kano, Katsina, Jigawa and Kaduna states.
In another development, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji (Dr.) Ado Bayero has tasked the council of Imams to redouble their effort towards ensuring unity and peaceful co-existence among the Muslim Ummah.
The emir made the call when he received the council of Imams in his palace.
He stressed the need for the Imams to encourage the Ummah to shun all differences among themselves.
Vice chairman council of Imams, Sheikh Nasir Adam, had earlier told the emir that they were at the palace to inform him about the council’s mission, which is aimed at bringing Islamic scholars together.
He then solicited for the emir’s blessing to set a date for the launching of the council.
