Gumel foundation expends N95m on
social services

A TOTAL sum of N94, 723, 752 which was transferred to the
account of Gumel Emirate Foundation in 1997 by the Gumel Emirate
Fund was used in rendering social services to the people of the
emirate.
Giving the breakdown of the total expenditure, the chairman,
Board of Trustees of the foundation, Alhaji Abdullahi Maikano
said at the foundation’s Annual General Meeting, held at its
conference hall, Gumel, that the sum of N15, 44, 633 was spent
on education, N5, 075, 055 on health, water supply, N52, 009,
719, renovation of central mosque N1, 069, 676 as well as
building of a mosque at the secretariat N481,500.
Others included repair and renovation of the secretariat N3,
874,853, flooring of hall and repair of bench N2, 384, 504,
cumulative overhead expenses N31, 655, 486, cumulative
expenditure from 1997– 2005 N111, 9944 26.
According him, presently, the foundation has N30,000,000 in
fixed deposit account at Intercontinental Bank, Bank Road, Kano.
Maikano further explained that the foundation also assisted
students of Gumel emirate in pursuing science- oriented courses
in Nigerian universities, while surgical equipment were
purchased and distributed to the General Hospital Gumel.
The report of the expenditure was given out after Aminu Ibrahim
Chartered Accountant Plc observed and accented to it under the
legal act which was presented by Musa Isa Idris.
The Board of Trustee of the foundation dissolved itself
immediately and set up an interim committee to run the affairs
of the board.
