Purge in police force:
Sacked officers, men turn beggars...In Kebbi
Kebbi state police command has laid off 2,074 of its officers
and men in line with on-going reorganisation in the police
service.
Muhammad Kabir, the command’s public relations officer,
confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in
Birnin Kebbi, saying the letters were given to the affected
staff on Friday.
He said the list was compiled last year, pointing out that the
exercise was not peculiar to Kebbi but was nationwide.

Adviser appeals to Kano electorate on civic rights

AS the voter registration exercise ends today nationwide,
Special Adviser to the Kano state Governor on Inter-Governmental
Affairs, Alhaji Abba Shehu Ahmad has re-echoed the clarion call
on people in the state to exercise their civic rights so that
they vote a government which policies and programmes hinge on
human development and Sharia implementation.
Speaking to Daily Triumph when he visited our office yesterday,
Alhaji Ahmad observed that the people of Kano state should use
their votes to re-elect the government of Malam Ibrahim Shekarau
for its laudable programmes which have greatly transformed the
lives of the people.

Jigawa
guber race: ANPP has no right to enforce zoning

THE National Executive Council
(NEC) of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) has no right to
decide for Jigawa state, whether to zone the candidature for
governorship in the forthcoming elections, as it is
undemocratic, illegal null and void.
One of the ANPP gubernatorial aspirants, Hon. Farouk Adamu Aliyu
made the assertion in an interview with some Triumph editors
yesterday, stressing that ‘’zoning is totally unacceptable to us
because it will further polarize our state.’’

WELL-DONE! Kano state governor, Malam Ibrahim
Shekarau seems to be saying as he presents a
certificate to the state chairman of Youth Sports
Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) and the immediate past
chairman of Nassarawa local government area, Alhaji

Pillars condemn ref Okporie
KANO Pillars Football Club has condemned the officiation
officials led by centre referee Okoporie B. U. from Abia state
for poor handling of their match against Niger Tornadoes FC at
Bako Kontagora, Minna which eventually saw Pillars losing 0-1.
According to the club’s media officer, Shehu Adamu the
officiating was something else and called on the Nigeria
Football League (NFL) to address this situation once and for all
for the development of the game in the cuntry.
