Islamic scholar tasks politicians

AN Islamic scholar in Nassarawa local government area of Kano state Malam Shu’aibu Habibu Gwarzo has warned politicians against acts capable of derailing the nation’s democracy as the 2007 election approach.
The scholar sounded the warning while is speaking to Daily Triumph in an exclusive interview in Kano.
He advised Nigerian politicians to always exhibit patience in their conduct and utterances in order not to create chaos during the elections.
Malam Gwarzo said that Ulama in the country would always pray for Allah’s intervention on the survival of democracy in the country.
The scholar explained that as much as Nigerians want democracy to succeed they should not overheat the polity to ensure its success urging the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and the security agencies to ensure free and fair election in 2007 polls.
He said INEC and security agencies cannot afford to shy away from their civil responsibility and jeopardize the future of democracy in the country.
Meanwhile Malam Shu’aibu has appealed to EFCC to ensure that all funds looted from the country were recorded.
