policy lauded
By MUH’D Hamisu ABDULLAHI
AS youth in the society become more aware in the fight against
unemployment, poverty and the menace of miscreants by
themselves, Kano state government says it has succeeded in its
mission, Governor Ibrahim Shekarau has explained.
The governor who was addressing a mammoth crowd of youth in the
state stated this at an occasion organized by Youth Awareness
for ANPP Administration (YAAA), held at Tahir Guest Palace in
honour of the patron of the association, Alhaji Ahmad Ibrahim
Yakasai, the state commissioner of commerce, industry and
cooperatives.
The governor who also expressed deep appreciation to the effort
of the youth to augment his government’s policies, further
stressed that as youth gathered in unisone, it was an indication
that they remained vanguards of societal development.
Malam Shekarau, fascinated by the remarks made by the youth
leader in line with enhancement of obedience, dedication and
hard work among the youths, said provision of water, roads and
other social amenities were promises that could be made by
anybody, but his administration had choosen to prioritise human
development.
He said as human development is paramount in any societal
development, he commended the youth for borrowing a leaf from
elders of Yakasai Zumunta, whom he described as visionary,
credible and exemplary people.
While promising that effort would be geared constantly towards
the protection of the image of youth and Kano people in general,
he said in the next couple of weeks working material would be
provided to Yakasai Zumunta Clinic to equip it for effective
service delivery.
In his vote of thanks, the patron of the association, Alahaji
Ahmad Ibrahim Yakasai, thanked Allah for the honour done to him
by the ANPP youth in Yakasai ward.
He reiterated his preparedness to continue to champion the cause
of Governor Shekaru, emphasizing that “Malam did not steal,
Malam is not corrupt, Malam is trustworthy and he is a
God-fearing governor,” calling on people in the state to protect
their votes during this year’s election to ensure the re-lection
of the governor.
Earlier in his speech, the chairman of the association, Abubakar
Muhammad Yakasai, had said that his organization has succeeded
in fighting unemployment, poverty and menace of miscreants.
Established in 2003, YAAA, he said, has over 700 members in the
ward.
On his part, the guest speaker at the occasion, Alhaji Auwalu
Mudi Yakasai, extended appreciation to Governor Shekarau for
approving a plot of land to Yakasai ward where they built a
