30 PDP top defect to ANPP in
Bauchi
From SULE ALIYU, Bauchi
DESPITE attempts to carry all members along and settle past
misunderstandings against members of the party, the Peoples’
Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi state, has lost over 30 of its
top notchers and founding members that contributed to the
success of the party, since 1999.
Addressing the ANPP members at a gubernatorial rally in Kirfi
local government area recently, the state chairman of All
Nigeria Peoples’ Party (ANPP), Alhaji Shehu Sani Malam revealed
that, so far, the ANPP has received over 1,000 supporters of the
PDP from different local government areas of the state, within
two weeks, including the state seving deputy governor, Alhaji
Abdulmalik Mahmoud, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Kirfi, who served as
a federal minister in the Obasanjo administration (2000-2000),
as well as a member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) and one
of the strongest pillars of the party in the state, since its
inception in 1998 and Alhaji Baba Maisamari Futuk, who served as
Alkaleri local government council chairman, from 1999-2002.
Others were Alhaji Ibrahim Yaro Yaro former PDP vice chairman
north east sub-region, Alhaji Ahmad Katukan Misau, Alhaji
Danladi Sarkin Fadam Miri, immediate past PDP chairman Bauchi
local government and Hon. Arsamu Guyaba, a serving member in the
Bauchi state House of Assembly.
Also Alhaji Tasiu Muhammad Azare and Alhaji Awwalu Gwalebe, Hon.
Tanko Dutse, former member of the Bauchi state House of Assembly
and ASP Ibrahim Makama Misau, a one-time ADC to governor Ahmadu
Adamu Mu’azu and many more that held various political positions
in the PDP administration in the state.
According to him, majority of those who decamped to the ANPP,
were victims of frustration and denial of their constitutional
rights, as bonafide members of the party, “most of them were
denied the right to aspire to elective positions, despite the
contributions they rendered to the party, since inception while
others were out-rightly rejected by the party on the directives
of those who have turned the party into their personal use.
“These people decided to join the ANPP to prove their political
strength and the goodwill they enjoy from the people that built
the PDP to what it has become today, adding that, not fewer than
six serving commissioners in the state dumped the Peoples’
Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Nigeria Peoples’ Party
(ANPP),” he said.
