Jigawa AC resolves differences
over guber seat

The national secretariat of the Action Congress. (AC), has
finally confirmed Alhaji Aminu Dalhatu, as the party’s
gubernatorial candidate in Jigawa state, ending the tussle
between the contenders over the candidacy.
Jigawa state chairman of the Action Congress, Ambassador Daudu
Sulaiman, who disclosed this to newsmen in Dutse, said this
followed a meeting by the party’s reconciliation and petition
hearing committee, headed by Chief Tom Ikimi, who ratified the
earlier election conducted in December, last year.
It could be recalled that, the primary electionconducted between
three contestants, included former minister of works and
housing, Alhaji Saleh Shehu, Captain Kaugama and Alhaji Aminu
Dalhatu.
The later emerged winner in which Alhaji Shehu, petitioned the
national secretariat, describing the primary election as a
kangaroo one.
Ambassador Sulaiman also said, while upholding the candidature
of Aminu Dalhatu, the committee equally described as null and
void, all other agreements and undertakings entered into
previously by the elders and stakeholders of the party.
Daily Triumph reports that, following the inability to adopt a
candidate, the party leadership, along with some elders, among
whom were the former interim national chairman, Alhaji Hassan
Zurmi, former labour minister Musa Gwadabe met at the residence
of the Zonal vice chairman of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Rimi,
and agreed on consensus that, Saleh Shehu be given the
candidacy, while Aminu Dalhatu and Captain Kaugama should
produce the deputy governor and 40 per cent of total appointees,
secretary to the state government 20 per cent appointees
respectively.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I am happy to announce that, our national
secretariat has confirmed that, Alhaji Aminu Dalhatu is the
genuine and bonafide candidate for the governorship of Jigawa
state”, said the AC chairman.
He urged all the factions to come together and work for the
success of the party in the April elections, saying people
should not take electoral contest as a matter of life and death.
Ambassador Sulaiman, while expressing optimism about his party’s
chances in winning the election, maintained that, this should
only be possible if there is good and harmonious relationship
between all party men and women.
In his reaction, the gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Aminu
Dalhatu, promised to embark on the reconciliation move, with a
view to winning back all agrieved partymen, especially those
that contested along with him.
