Lay offs: Fear grips Katsina police command

Tension and fear have enveloped Katsina police command as federal government commenced on a retrenchment exercise of police officers nationwide.
Daily triumph checks revealed that about 781 officers are to be retrenched at Katsina police command.
It was learnt that the list of the affected officers arrived the state on Thursday and the news speared like wild fire which inflicted fears and tension among the officers.
Our correspondent further learnt that the retrenchment exercise centered on compulsory retirement and dismissal.
Most of the affected officers Daily Triumph gathered, have committed various offenced while on duty.
It was further gathered that although the sack letters were not distributed at the time of filling this report, however, the affected officers are aware of their fate.
Daily Triumph also learnt that the affected officers have started packing their properties while handling over of official uniform has commenced.
Some of the affected police officers described their fate as an act of God and prayed that government will immediately release their benefits.
However, other affected officers lamented over their position, saying after putting years serving the government and public they have not’ learnt any craft for earning a living.
