Pillars host Rangers today
*NFL names match officials
By ADO SALISU
UNIMPRESSIVE Kano Pillars Football Club will today confront
Rangers International of Enugu in the week-six of the on-going
Premier League at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano.
Pillars who failed to secure an away point since the
commencement of the league, only bank on the home advantage to
maintain its position on the league table.
One of the club officials who recently attributed their
unimpressive form especially at away games to the poor
officiating from the match officials, may possibly rely on the
home ground to pick the maximum three points against visiting
Rangers International who occupy the second position on the
league table.
The encounter is expected to be explosive capable of going
either side but Pillars are favoured to carry the day. If
ex-Super Eagles player, Rabiu Baita, Bala Muhammad, Yakubu
Jibrin and Aminu Tahir find their form, Rangers will regret
their trip to the ancient city of Kano.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football League has appointed officials
for the Premier League Week Six matches scheduled for different
venues across the country today.
In Kano, where Pillars host Rangers in a Group A game, S. Okai
from the Federal Capital Territory will take charge of
proceedings while E. Imiere from Edo will be at the centre in
Yenagoa where Ocean Boys will receive Niger Tornadoes.
In Gombe, where Adamawa United plays its home games, A. Ismaila
from Plateau will control affairs when United hosts Heartland of
Owerri.
The FCT’s Awugo will be at the centre at the Bauchi Stadium when
Wikki Tourists entertains Kaduna United.
Imo state referee, Ukasanya, will be in charge at the Oluyemi
Kayode Stadium in Ado Ekiti, venue of the game between Prime and
Kwara United.
