Police ready for April polls -AIG
Alhaji Yakubu Muhammad, the A.I.G. of Police in charge of Zone 10, in Sokoto said that the zone is ready to provide security during electioneering and April general elections.
Muhammad told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that already all the three police commissioners in the zone and their respective area commanders have been briefed on the role each is expected to play towards the success of the exercise.
He explained that the three police commissioners had held series of meetings with all the registered political party chairmen on the importance of political tolerance.
Muhammad stated: "We are fully prepared to carry out our constitutional responsibilities to ensure the protection of lives and property of the people. "he said.
Muhammad explained that the zone would hold parties leaders responsible should there be any political crisis in any part of the zone.
He said that it was only by so doing that there would be peace for the smooth implementation of the transition programme.
The A.I.G. called on parents not to allow their children to be used as political thugs by desperate politicians adding that such politicians would dump them on achieving their goal.
Muhammad described children as a great asset that need to be looked after as future leaders.
He called on the officers and men of the zone to continue to put in their best as a special monitoring unit has been put in place to monitor the conduct.
"Those found wanting would have themselves to be blame while the hard working ones would be rewarded accordingly," he concluded.
