FG granted N210m to FMC, Katsina - MD

THE federal government has released about N210 million to Federal Medical Centre, Katsina, medical director in charge of the hospital, Dr. Kabir Dara has said.
He told Sunday Triumph in an interview in Katsina that the amount was provided to the centre last year and was used for execution of capital projects.
Dr. Dara explained that out of the amount, N70 million was used for execution of projects under Millenium Development Goals (MDG), while another N70 million was for renovation of some buildings and running of the centre.
The medical director further explained that N40 million out of the amount is being used for the construction of oxygen plant at the centre while N40 million was used for payment of salaries to staff.
Dr. Dara said the centre need about N540 million for execution of some projects next year.
He said the amount will be used for the construction of more wards, more equipment for theatre and laundry departments.
“We need money to construct more houses for our staff, he added.
Dr. Dara said part of the money which is about N200 million is needed for the construction of accident and emergency wards.
The medical director who commended the federal government for its support to the centre, said it can boast of having enough facilities to cater for patients.
He said with these facilities, patients from other states in Nigeria and Niger Republic are now patronising the centre.
