Gombe AC yet to field guber candidate
From Aliyu Muhammed, Gombe

As political activities continue to gather momentum in the country, Gombe state state branch of the Action Congress (AC) is yet to field a gubernatorial candidate as its flagbearer.
Sunday Triumph gathered that this may not be unconnected with the crisis the party is deeply in, following a controversy involving the two out of the four aspirants namely, Ibrahim Hassan and Col. Musa Muhammad.
It was learnt that AC has been waxing stronger right from its inception in the state but crisis within the party is capable of jeopardizing its chances of springing surprises at the general polls.
It is being rumoured that Col. Muhammed is the certified flagbearer of the party, whereas in some quarters, former governor of the state, Abubakar Hashidu who just joined the party is speculated to have been choosen as the candidate of the party.
However, the air was cleared over the imbrioglio that besieged the party by one of the gubernatorial aspirant, Ibrahim Hassan, during a press briefing organised in his New GRA residence.
According to him, during the last primary election, Col. Musa Muhammed, had wanted to make use of money to buy his victory but I rejected the election and filed a petition to that effect. None of us was declared winner. Upto this time we're waiting for the national leadership.''
He said: ''In the case of Abubakar Hashidu, who came in after we had the aborted congress, his name was slotted in as a candidate and being a neutral person in the contest, the leadership decided to send his name as the flagbearer in order to meet up with the deadline of INEC.''
''That decision did not go unchalleged. We contested it because it is undemocratic. Everything was made known to INEC. As at now, nobody has been cleared by INEC as the substantive gubernatorial candidate of AC in this state," he added.
Ibrahim also called on supporters to remain calm and await the result from both the national headquaters of the party as well as INEC .
