Amoo cautions
3SC fans
Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) coach Fatai Amoo has asked fans
of the Ibadan club, to limit their optimism on the club’s
chances this season even as they get set to start life in the
lower cadres of the Nigerian league this weekend.
Amoo told Nigeriansportsonline.com ahead of his team’s National
Division 1D opening game away to Bussdor of Port Harcourt that
his team’s excellent showing in their last friendly against a
newly formed Lagos United side wasn’t enough to make the club’s
fans to set top targets for his side.
‘Our objective is simple, and that is to win our group and
qualify for the Premier League next season,” he said.
“But I want to caution our fans to please be a little realistic,
and don’t start expecting so much from us because we played well
in our last friendly against Lagos United. That to me was just a
small game and the real test starts at the weekend when we play
away to Bussdor.
“The first game of the league is always tough and if you
consider that most of our players have been inactive for over
three months, you would then understand why the fans have to be
patient,” Amoo further cautioned.
The former First Bank and Julius Berger of Lagos coach however,
assured that as the league goes on his team would get stronger
based on the fact that they were able to retain over 80 percent
of their former players.
“Our team is still very much intact as we were lucky to hold on
to over 80% of our old players, and that I think is a big plus.
As the league goes on, the team should get stronger and we can
then mount a strong promotion challenge.
“But all the same I hope to go to Bussdor’s ground and get a
very good result.” Amoo said to Nigeriansportsonline.com.
