FCT administration reinstates 184 workers
FEDERAL Capital Territory administration has reinstated 188 out of the 4,500 workers disengaged in the last quarter of 2006.
About 415 appeals were received from the disengaged workers after which heads of administration and finance in the mandate secretariats met and reviewed the exercise.
The mandate secretariats included those of education, health and human services as well as agriculture, transport and social development secretariats.
FCT administration's establishment and training director Joseph Maimagani made these known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
He said that the review of the exercise was informed by the FCT minister's intervention directing that ``justice and fairness should prevail.''
``It was intended to minimise human errors and misjudgments.
``At the end of the meeting there were some clear cases of mistaken identity; staff with requisite qualifications removed for lacking qualifications.
``Those on in-service training and cadres not abolished erroneously included,'' he said.
NAN gathered that 108 of the reinstated staff were ward attendants in the hospitals; 16 were tractor drivers and mechanics.
Others include 60 staff from other agencies and area councils.
