Shekarau commiserates with This Day
GOVERNOR of Kano state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau has joined other well-meaning Nigerians in commiserating with the board, management and staff of Leaders and Company Ltd., publishers of ThisDay newspapes, as well as millions of the newspaper’s readers all over the world on the sad event of the fire disaster which engulfed the corporation’s premises over the weekend.
This is contained in a press statement signed by his Director of Press, Mallam Sule Ya’u Sule in Kano expressed shock at the sheer magnitude of destruction of the newspaper’s property.
While lamenting the loss of materials and equipment, the governor expressed gratitude to God that no life was lost.
He expressed his heartfelt sympathies over the unfortunate incidence on behalf of himself, the government and people of Kano state and called on the staff of ThisDay newspapers not to be discouraged by the setback but to rally together and work harder in order to triumph over a temporary adversity.
“This is a very unfortunate tragedy indeed and is entirely condemnable coming at this critical moment in the country’s history when a civilian administration is planning to hand over power to another through a democratic process”.
ThisDay is playing an important role in this unfolding democratic development through its unique, bold and incisive news coverage, comments and analysis of political issues of the day”.
“It is my humble prayer that this incident only serves to fire you to renew your commitment to champion the cause of a better society. Accept it as the will of Allah, the governor concluded.
