‘House of Reps to help sanitise aviation sector’
From MUHAMMAD S.D. WANDO, Minna

The federal House of representatives has vowed to sanitize the aviation industry in the country even if that will entail a merger process among its operators.
The House would also want an in-depth investigation into incessant cases of air-mishap, especially the recent one that claimed the life of His Eminence, the late Sultan Muhammad Maccido and other innocent Nigerians.
A member of the House, representing Rafi /Shiroro/Munya federal constituency, Hon. Shehu Ibrahim Kagara who disclosed this to journalists in Kagara, his home town during the week, decried the high level of decay in the aviation industry and what he called unacceptable rate of plane accidents in the country.
He averred that as long as the whole scenario was attributable to human error, it called for concerted human efforts to rectify it.
He expressed surprise with the latest plane crash. “It is unbelievable, because there is nowhere in the world an aircraft takes off without being checked. And even when it develops fault after take-off, the twin supported engines can allow for emergency landing at the nearest airport, “the lawmaker explained.
Commenting on the on-going voters revalidation exercise, Hon. Kagara cautioned that the e-system may be a ruse and economic waste and that the House of Representatives has made it mandatory for INEC to device all means to ensure that elections are not only held in 2007 but are also fair and credible.
