Obaseki assures clubs on league
Chairman of the Nigeria Football League NFL, Chief Oyuiki Obaseki has assured of a level playing field for all clubs in the next league season, Nigeriansportsonline.com can report.
Speaking at a seminar for the 52 clubs in the League in Abuja, Obaseki said the stakes in the league are getting higher and the race will keener, stressing that most matches will be beamed live to keep everyone on its foes.
He frowned as a situation where team officials will not allow television crew access into the field, warning that such clubs and its officials will be heavily sanctioned.
Maintaining that the Nigeria Football League board has in the last three weeks faced one of its stiffest test in its bid to take its rightful place, Obaseki said the NFL had to contend with falsehood, blackmail and intimidation but has remained resolute in this battle as its convinced that its on the right track.
Obaseki who said the NFL has seen the magnitude of problems confronting the clubs, especially in the area of finance assured that the NFL is explore every avenue that will ensure that more money come to the coffers of clubs participating in the league.
“It is our collective responsibility to ensure that the game of football is not brought to disrepute in our actions, both before, during and after the game”.
“Managers, coaches and club officials who are found of making derogatory statements either about the league the players and referees must learn to seal their mouth or they will pay dearly for it. “Obaseki said.
