Pillars shop for Atule, Muhammad
Kano Pillars Football Club management has dragged Enyimba Football Club midfielder Benedict Atule and Sharks of Port-Harcourt, Musa Mohammed to the ancient Pyramid city of Kano in its resolve to fortify the team in the on-going Premier League.
Benedict Atule who played in the club between 2000 and 2003 before joining Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi from were he sojourned to Enyimba fc. He was dragged to Kano by the Alhaji Muhammad Tukur Babangida led management to negotiate with club for the 2007 season.
Atule who watched from the sideline as the Kano side battle Kaduna United fc to a stand still in their midweek encounter told Sunday Triumph Sports that he is ready to play his heart out in Kano Pillars if the negotiation is a favorable to both parties.
The midfield dynamo stressed that his joining the club is like home coming because as a former captain of the club whatever he can do to contribute to the success of the team he will not hesitate to offer it if only there is an enabling environment.
“I have played in the club before and enjoyed my stay. If now they want my service I will not fail them. I must tell you if the offer is good pillars will get the best from me”.
Musa Muhammad who played for Sharks fc last season is also on the wanted list of the Kano club side.
The club’s technical adviser Justine Tenger confirmed the club’s desire to have the duo in their team list.
Meanwhile, the failure of Kaduna state government to release the N26 million it approved in December 2006 for the settlement of the 2006 outstanding debt owed players and officials in the service of the state football club, Kaduna United is the major cause of the crisis facing the club on the on-going Premier League.
Sunday Triumph Sports gathered in Kaduna during the week that the failure of the state government to effect the release or the said amount to the club management to pay the players has resulted in the exit of key actors from the club’s 2006 squad, which is presently having a telling effect on the club’s performance in the league.
Most of the players not happy with the development abandoned the club to seek greener pasture in other clubs, a situation that forced the club management to make do with players recruited form local club sides and academies in and around Kaduna state to compete in this years premier league.
This decision has however placed the club in a precarious position in the out-going Globacom Premier League as the recruited players have not been able to hold their own. Since the league kickedoff the club management has been anticipating a possible drop from the premiership ranks.
On Thursday in Kaduna after the club survived the scrace of visiting Kano Pillars FC in their encounter on Wednesday, it held various meetings with the players and officials, supporters club and decided to take the bull by the horn by appealing to the state government to release fund for the team.
