... Constructs maternal, child hospital to gulp N538m
KATSINA state government has awarded a contract for the construction of maternal and child hospital at the cost of N538 million.
The contract was awarded to Sixtax Construction Firm and it will be completed in the next few weeks.
Speaking at the ceremony, the state commissioner overseeing ministry of health, Alhaji Danlami Garba said the hospital will consist of 164 beds and will be sited along Mani Road.
Alhaji Danlami said the construction of the maternal hospital was to decongest the existing Katsina General Hospital.
He however told the contracting firm that government will not accept any low quality work, advising that “you should work hand-in-hand with consultants”.
The commissioner explained that Sixtax Construction Firm was selected based on its past records, advising them not to fail the government.
Earlier, the permanent secretary, state ministry of health, Dr. Salisu Banye, said the award of the contract was borne out of the need to provide health-care delivery to the people.
Responding, representative of the contracting firm, Alhaji Shehu Usman Dantudu assured that the contracting firm will complete the project on schedule and assured of quality job.
