Nigeria’s future ‘ll be stable, if...- Sheikh Khalil
By USMAN GWADABE
A MEMBER of Nigerian Council of Ulama, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, has predicted that the future of Nigeria’s democracy will be bright and stable.
According to him, in the next 12 years, the nation’s polity will be one of the best democracies produced in contemporary times.
“But this would only be realised if a coup d’etat does not occur to destabilise the system . This could be as a result of the selfish interest of the nation’s enemies”, he lamented.
Shiekh Khalil made this prediction in an exclusive interview with Sunday Triumph, noting that the symbiotic relationship between the North and South to quash the tenure elongation bid of President Obasanjo was an indication of blessings for the country.<<more>>

By ADAMU ABDULLAHI
TWO new commissiioners have been sworn in in Kano by the state governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, on Friday. They are to oversee the affairs of the ministries of land and agriculture respectively.
Performing the ceremony, the governor urged them not to disappoint the people of the state and the legislators who have cleared them for the post.
Governor Shekarau who expressed delight over the action of the state Assembly of clearing the commissioners within 24 hours, said it was a positive development.
He recalled that when there was a friction between the legislative arm and the executive, people thought that was the end of their cooperation, brotherhood and cordiality.
The governor said, “it is pleasing that both of us have passed a test”, adding that , “without passing the test, the cordiality will not continue to exist”.
He explained that the misunderstanding has strengthened the brotherhood and cooperation between the executive and the legislative arms.
Turning to the new commissioners, the governor intimated them that they were chosen based in their track records, hardwork and commitment.
He urged them to be dedicated to their new assignment which could be more challenging and tasking while expressing his appreciation to those commissioners who resigned their appointments for the contribution they had rendered while in office.<<more>>
