KANO state government has donated public relations equipment worth N320,000 to the state headquarters of the Nigerian Prison Service (NPS).
Presenting the equipment on behalf of the government, the permanent secretary, Special Services and Council Affairs, Mallam Ado Umar Mohammed said the gesture was aimed at The Senate has enlarged its aviation committee to investigate the Oct. 29 ADC crash in Abuja, which claimed two of its members.
Inaugurating the committee, Deputy Senate President Ibrahim Mantu said the committee was special because it now included people who were knowledgeable in the aviation sector for a thorough job to be done.
Mantu said, the committee had been empowered to invite experts from anywhere to help it in its investigations.
``The Senate has given them enormous powers to unravel the causes of the incessant crashes in the country,'' he said.
Mantu also expressed worries at last week's arrest of a man who allegedly possessed substances suspected to be explosives at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
``It is sad that human beings can unleash terror on fellow human beings,'' he said.
``My appeal to Nigerians is that they should not allow themselves to be used by people to unleash terror,'' he said.
Mantu called on the committee to conclude its work as soon as possible because Nigerians were eagerly awaiting the outcome of their investigation.
Speaking earlier, the chairman of the committee, Sen. Mohammed Ibrahim, said the addition of more members to the standing committee was to enable it to ``deeply look into the crash'' and others in the recent past.
Ibrahim said the committee was imbued with the hope that its report would go a long way to put things in proper perspective in the aviation sector.
