Dalhatu promises goodies for Jigawa
From ISMAILA MUHAMMAD, Dutse

THE Action Congress (AC) has said that if it forms government in Jigawa state come April, 2007, it will focus attention on the provision of quality education, good health, agricultural and rural development.
The gubernatorial candidate of the party, Alhaji Aminu Dalhatu made this known during a media conference in Dutse recently.
He noted that the main problem of Jigawa state was lack of development due to its rural nature which he said his government will tackle if given the mandate.
He observed with dismay that the health sector has been neglected by successive administrations due to lack of provision of clean water, a situation that breeds water-borne diseases such as typhoid, cholera, meningitis and poor sanitation which also breeds malaria in the state.
He said that education, being the pillar of any development, will take the lion share of his budgetary allocation while agricultural development will follow suit, considering the fact that Jigawa is an agrarian state.
Dalhatu revealed that road network construction across the state will be given consideration and rural development will also form part of his administration’s priority.
The AC candidate disregarded the claim that the party was weak in the state, assuring that what happened in Kano in 2003 will be repeated in Jigawa state as the new party will sweep all elections in the state by God’s grace.
Alhaji Dalhatu, who said he will reconcile with his co-contestants disclosed that what informed his emergence to contest the governorship position was that he knew he will perform better than the present administration in the state.
