of town planning rules hazardous - Arc. Jibrin
From MUSTAPHA SAYE, Kaduna
THE director, College of Environmental Studies, Kaduna
Polytechnic, Arch. Lawal M. Jibrin has observed that lack of
respect for the rules and regulations of town planning in some
major cities in this country was the major cause of
environmental hazards.
Arc. Jibrin who spoke with Sunday Triumph correspondent in
Kaduna noted that government must initiate a master-plan in old
cities which will comply with town planning have a modern touch
and add colour to the cultural heritage.
He stressed the need for government to stand firm and address
the issue of master plans with a view to integrate modernity and
development, adding that government can collaborate with
stakeholders and professionals to come out with practical and
correct information on old cities that will be put into a well
designed master-plans.
According to him, this lack of organised environment was
responsible for many of the diseases in the society, noting that
any responsible society in the world must follow the
guidelines and laws of master-plan.
He appealed to the people to avoid building on river banks and
sewage areas which he said could put lives in danger. |
