Non-observance of town planning rules hazardous - Arc. Jibrin

THE director, College of Environmental Studies, Kaduna Polytechnic, Arch. Lawal M. Jibrin has observed that lack of respect for the rules and regulations of town planning in some major cities in this country was the major cause of environmental hazards.
Arc. Jibrin who spoke with Sunday Triumph correspondent in Kaduna noted that government must initiate a master-plan in old cities which will comply with town planning have a modern touch and add colour to the cultural heritage.
He stressed the need for government to stand firm and address the issue of master plans with a view to integrate modernity and development, adding that government can collaborate with stakeholders and professionals to come out with practical and correct information on old cities that will be put into a well designed master-plans.
According to him, this lack of organised environment was responsible for many of the diseases in the society, noting that any responsible society in the world must follow the guidelines and laws of master-plan.
He appealed to the people to avoid building on river banks and sewage areas which he said could put lives in danger.
