Adieu Saddam
Hussein
WHEN the story of the death sentence passed on former Iraqi
President late Saddam Hussein spread like a bush fire all over
the world, many including yours sincerely thought it was just a
mere judicial pronouncement which could be contestable in a
court of law.
Though, the legal proceedings concerning the allegations
levelled against late Saddam Hussein lingers in the court, it
was later substantiated, when all the proceeding judges arrived
at the conclusion that there were a cases of human rights
violation on the former Iraq dictator.
The issue of Dujail massacre ranks prominent among other human
rights violation charges against him because, it was alleged
that Saddam ordered the killing of many souls of Kurds in 1982.
Secondly a lot of innocent Iraqi citizens were reportedly killed
through Saddam’s misrule.
Sentiments apart, all those who are living witnesses to how late
Saddam ruled Iraqi people are also living witnesses to all that
happened i.e. interms of broad day light infringements of the
rights of innocent Iraqi citizens.
Infact, even during the reign of the late Ayatollayi Khomeini
the man who stood tooth and nail to bring about the successful
Islamic revolution which later toppled the Shah’s administration
in the Islamic Republic of Iran which brought about the mass
destruction of human lives with biological weapons all in the
name of serving the U.S. interest.
The late Saddam Hussein played a significant role in truncating
the growth of any thing Islam. He vehemently fought against any
religious move or anti-imperialist struggle in and around his
country. As a student of history this fact must not be swept
under the carpet. The truth must and have to be told no matter
whose ox is goerd. Saddam treated the people of Iraq as his
personal property. His government became a family affair and
promotion of close friends and associates closer to the
corridors of power.
When the U.S. and her allies later realized that they have
empowered late Saddam more than they ought, they felt with the
possession of Neuclear weapons by the then late Saddam Hussein,
he would automatically become a threat to Israel. U.S. quickly
swung into action by devising a means of dealing with Saddam in
her own way at least to disarm him or weaken his military
capabilities.
This agenda was not feasible not until the American experts on
human psychology were given a task to accomplish at least on how
to device a means of provoking late Saddam.
Ironically, he did not even survive the first conspiracy test
when America used her agents to have late Saddam into invading
the tiny Kuwait which according to him is part of Iraq going by
history.
Infact, that was the first mistake committed by Saddam Hussein
which gave the U.S and her allies automatic ticket to have a
space in the Middle East.
For the U.S to have gotten that single opportunity to create a
military base in the Middle East was a credit to her conspiracy
theory and achievement.
Since that period, America became some what interested in Iraq’s
affairs both domestic and international. The next strategy was
how to look straight into Saddam Husseini’s face and levelled a
wild allegation of his being accused of depositing huge amount
of weapons of mass destruction, and that only experts from the
west could attest to that fact. Though late Saddam lauded his
voice in condemning such deliberate act of conspiracy, yet his
voice landed on deaf ears.
late Saddam severally told the world via the CNN and other
international media that he was not in possession of weapons of
mass destruction and that he will not allow any alien to step
his/her foot on Iraq’s soil.
His defiant position gave the U.S a simple ride over and a
battle line was immediately drawn. Late Saddam Hussein was later
declared a terror and a hostile president by the USA.
Many analysts though it was at this particular stage that Saddam
ought to have retracted all his comments and device a means of
expunging every kind of conspitorial arrangement against him and
Iraq as a whole. But he failed to realized the plan and went
into war with the U.S and her allies. He went into war with
America during the reign of George Bush senior tagged “mother of
all war” which later continued with his biological son as
American President.
The present American president was just accomplishing the
unfinished work started by his father even against the views of
the Americans.
It is true that Americans on the street condemned the U.S/Iraq
war time without number. They spoke individually and
collectively too in total disagreement with the logic behind the
war.
Recently, elections into America’s House of Parliament saw the
democrats leading because of their dissatisfaction with the U.S
foreign policy especially as it affects Iraq. Putting all these
at the back of our minds, the public prosecution of late Saddam
Hussein has been condemned especially that it was done at the
time Muslims all over the world were celebrating Eid-el Kabir
and performing Hajj rites.
Besides, the execution of the former Iraq president, it was a
humiliation on his own personality. This should be a lesson to
our fellow Muslim leaders and should learn from late Saddam’s
mistakes.
Additionally, the execution of late Saddam Hussein showed
clearly that the U.S. supremacy over all other opposition forces
and had imprinted her in gold as the world number one terrorist
country.
It my opinion therefore, that since the U.S has scored a
political point by executing Saddam Hussein publicly she should
think of how best to park all her belongings from the Middle
East.
Iraq as a sovereign nation ought to be given chance to shape her
own destiny after a protracted war with the U.S and her allies.
Now that Saddam the man who constituted a threat to the entire
Middle East is history, there should be no justification in US
over staying in the country. |
