DPR seals 6 filling stations in Kano
The Directorate of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Kano has sealed six petrol stations in the metropolis for diverting fuel to unauthorised places.
The DPR Controller in Kano, Alhaji Mustapha Falalu, made this known to newsmen last Thursday, while inspecting petrol stations in the city.
He said the affected stations belonged to both independent and major marketers of petroleum products.
Falalu gave an assurance that further action would be taken against owners of the stations if they proved recalcitrant.
He blamed the acute fuel scarcity in the state on the low supply of the commodity to the state.
On the menace of touts and profiteers around filling stations in the state, Falalu said that the trend was normal in times of fuel shortage.
Fuel marketeers have taken over virtually all the petrol stations in the city, blocking motorists from gaining access to the pumps.
Petrol is still being sold for N700 per gallon in illegal outlets in the city, causing untold hardship on motorists and other residents.
