‘Yar’adua unveils agenda for Nigeria ... Launches campaign in Kano today

THE Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Alhaji Umaru Musa ‘Yar’adua yesterday in Kaduna unveiled his seven action plan with a view to achieving his desired goal.
Alhaji Yar’adua who was in Kaduna in continuation of his presidential campaign, said that if he clinched the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria some of the major areas that his administration would focus include provision of adequte power supply to all nooks and cranny of the country, describing lack of energy as agreat threat to the socio- economic development of Nigerians.
He also listed agriculture, education, poverty allevation, industrialisation, human empowerment, and provision of adequate security as other focal areas he would give priority to.
Alhaji Yar adua assured Nigerians that his administration would run an open door policy and observe the cardinal principles of honesty, equity and transparancy, noting that he is not eyeing the presidential seat for any personel gains.
According to him, Nigeria at this very particular time, needed somebody who will take it to the promised land.
He, however, expressed satisfaction with the support he got from the people of Kaduna state, hoping that in the next few days the people of the state will come out en-mass to cast their votes for hi m.
Earlier in his address, Governor Ahmed Makarfi of Kaduna state had said that the state and others in the North West zone have committed themselves so much to ensuring that Yar’adua wins the presidential election next month.
“I have a strong confidence in my people and I believe PDP will countinue with the leadership in the country, Governor Makarfi said, while appealing to other geopolitical zones in the country to support the North West in its bid to produce Governor Yaradua as Nigeria’s next president.
Also in his remark, the party National Chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Ali, commended Governor Makarfi for his sustained support and co-operation to the party.
Meanwhile, the ‘Yar’adua/Jonathan campaign is expected to be launched in Kano today.
According to a statement from one the PDP chieftains in Kano, Alhaji Ibrahim Ali Amin ‘Little’, while in Kano, the PDP presidential flagbearer will address party supporters at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
While urging Kano people and the entire PDP supporters in the state to turn out enmass to receive Alhaji ‘Yar’adua, Alhaji ‘Little’ also admonished them to be law-abiding during the visit.
