Conferment of titles on non-indigenes strengthens unity — Emir
The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Kabir Usman, has said that the conferment of traditional titles on non-indigenes will further strengthen national unity.
The emir made the remarks Thursday when he received a PDP presidential aspirant, Gov. Donald Duke of Cross River, in his palace.
Usman said the conferment of traditional titles on people outside their state of origin ‘’is good and will bring unity to the country’’.
He said the award of traditional titles was an honour meant to unite people, explaining that this informed such conferment on deserving non-indigenes by the Katsina Emirate.
The emir advised politicians to adhere to the objectives and guidelines of their parties in their campaigns and desist from using abusive language.
‘’We are ready to support aspirants who will build the nation and ensure peace and unity in Nigeria,’’ he said.
Earlier, Duke had said that he was at the palace to seek the emir’s blessing and prayers in his aspiration.
