A GANG of armed robbers stormed the house of the sister of the Jigawa state governor, Hajiya Hadiza Saminu Turaki who is also the wife of the executive chairman, Kazaure local council, Alhaji Rabi’u Musa and carted away about N8 million.
A reliable source informed Weekend Triumph that the robbers who were said to be 13 in number, arrived the house of the helpless woman in the early hours of yesterday through a neighbouring uncompleted house into her residence.
An eye witness who was in the house when the night marauders got in told newsmen that they arrived around 2:45 am when he was asleep and was told that they had some visitors.
“When I woke up, I saw all windows of the house opened and saw some people standing on the windows who told me that they were sent from Abuja to kill the chairman and collect money, and I told them we don’t have money”, the eye witness stressed.
The eyewitness then told the wife of the chairman that they insisted they want money when she told them they had only N500,000.
When contacted the area commander in charge of Kazaure emirate, ACP Alhaji Isa Hali Jega, confirmed the incident, saying the police have arrested nine out of the 13 suspects and are now helping the police in their investigation.
He told newsmen that they have discovered the sum of N24,000, the sum of N600,000, 500 Singaporean Dollars and 50 Saudi Riyals from the robbers.
One of the senior police officers at Kazaure police station told newsmen that he got the information through GSM telephone around 3:00 am and took prompt action where he deployed armed men and officers to block Daura road while others were asked to block Gado forest along Kano road.
