She is called ‘Daso’
Date of Birth: 17th January 1968
Place of Birth: Chiranchi quarters, Municicpal Local Government Area of Kano state, Nigeria.
Biography: This celebrated Hausa actress had her primary school education at Shekara primary school in the year 1971-1978, and then she proceeded to Women Teachers College (WTC) Kano for her secondary school education in the year 1978-1985. The talented screen idol then proceeded to Kaduna State Polytechnic for a Diploma in Business Administration in the year 1987-1990. As talented and charismatic as she is, the actress was lucky enough to secure a job with Tropical Commercial Bank immediately after her diploma programme in 1990. The actress worked with Tropical Commercial Bank for 3 years from 1990-1993, before she eventually got married in the year 1995. But, the voluptuous is now a divorcee with her acting career as her gracing spouse. Over a decade ago, the super actress toured around United Kingdom for a life exploration tour.
Personal Life: 'Daso', as she is lovingly called, is an actress with full potentials, to some outsiders; Saratu Gidado may appear to project an aura of definiteness of self-confidence. This self-confidence, sometimes is mistaken for simple arrogance by the less decisive public, but inside that frowning face, villainous actions and temperament screen delineation lies a very humble, straight-forward and sincere breed of the feminine world. Give her the scripts, she will make it a master piece, give her the roles, she will make it pure magic. She knows it all, she does it all. Saratu Gidado is a perfectionist, with a seemingly endless capacity to improve her acting abilities every passing day. A lot of people wonder how she manages to stay at the top over the years; what prevent this trail-blazer from becoming chronically bogged down in this pursuit for stardom is the pragmatism of her screen characters. From a wicked step-wife to a selfish and ruthless aunt, from a decent mother to a patient and up-right widow, such characteristics have managed to endear her to Hausa Home video lovers.
Journey to the Industry: The super actress began her acting career in the year 2000 in a film FELEKE, with a guest appearance, where she was casted along side Jamila Haruna, a liaison that gave birth to their close friendship. The versatile actress requested her friend (Jamila Haruna) to link her up with the industry's personalities, and Jamila Haruna did so by giving her introductory note to Director Ishaq Sidi Ishaq, an acclaimed image maker of the Hausa movie industry. Fortunately enough for her, the director (Ishaq) was having a meeting with the producer of Sarauniya Films, in person of Auwalu Muhammad Sabo at Ibrahimawa Productions. As a result of that meeting, Sarauniya films casted Saratu Gidado in their series of productions at a later time. And that was the beginning for the most prolific Hausa actress, Saratu Gidado is unarguably one of the industry's most gifted actress, with over six hundred (600) films to her credit, among which are:
Mashi, Garwashi, Sansan,i Mizani, Sirrin Daso, Mafia, Kiwo, Komai dozen, Kakaki, Guda, Sadaka, Huznee, Gidan Iko, Gidauniya, Gishiri, Garwashi, Nagari and the blockbuster movie Nagoma.
Awards: On her contribution towards the development of the great Hausa language and community, Daso has over 15 merit awards to her credit from different organisations and institutions. The actress, who has proven her worth on screen overtime, won the best female villain of Yahoo Groups Awards in 2002 and 2004. "I believe in hardwork, respect and honesty, as such have helped tremendously in my success…", the actress once said. Analysis in the movie industry has shown that Saratu Gidado is one of the most disciplined artistes in the profession.
