F/Eagles test Dragons for size
Congo 2007-bound Flying Eagles will on today in Cotonou confront Benin Republic's Dragons FC in continuation of their build-up towards the AYC holding in January.
"The Flying Eagles team will this weekend confront the Dragons of Benin as part of their preparations for the AYC in Congo," NFA spokesman Robinson Okosun told KICK OFF on Thursday.
He added, "The technical crew of the team led by Godwin Uwua and the players are not treating the match with kid gloves, so we expect a good and explosive match."
He also disclosed that the U-20 national side will meet Ghana's two strongest club sides, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak after the Dragons' match. He said the team will be recalled home to play a friendly match against a Lagos United team on January 5 in honour of late former NFA boss Emeka Omeruah.
KICK OFF also learnt that the Flying Eagles may not be camped in Kenya en-route the African championship as earlier planned. The team are expected to return to Cotonou after the Lagos friendly on January 5.
It is however possible for the team to honour the two friendly matches in Ghana before jetting out to Congo for the African championship.
