Foreign-based pros storm F/Eagles camp
In his quest to successfully defend the African Youth Championship (AYC) crown, head coach of the Flying Eagles Godwin Uwua has invited three more foreign-based professionals to his Congo-bound team.
The players are FC Barcelona attacker Salihu Mohammed, striker Sylvanus Azeka of England's Portsmouth FC as well as an attacking midfielder from Spanish second division side, Polidepitro FC. The players will join the team in their final phase camping en-route the championship.
"The team is gradually becoming a formidable one. I can tell you that I have a good defence and a fairly better midfield since we commenced the final phase of this camping. But like I used to say, I will rely on the foreign based players to fortify the attack of the team," Uwua told KICK OFF in Abuja.
"In this regard I have invited some players some of whom you know to beef up the attacking line. Some of them have not disappointed me in the matches they featured in. But I still expect more from them", he said.
Other foreign based stars in the team include Ezekiel Bala (FC Lyn, Oslo, Norway), Simon Zenke (Strasbourg FC, France), Emmanuel Sarki (Chelsea FC, England) and Olufemi Oladapo (FC Anderlecht, Belgium).
