Inferno: Shekarau assesses damage at ministry

GOVERNOR Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano state on Thursday paid an unscheduled visit to the state ministry of finance to assess the level of damage caused by a fire incident which occurred last Wednesday evening.
Malam Shekarau who described the incident as unfortunate, thanked the Almighty Allah that there was no loss of life and all vital documents were not affected by the fire.
The governor went round the offices affected by the fire to see the magnitude of the damage done to the offices.
Conducing the governor round the affected area, the permanent secretary in the ministry, Alhaji Faruk Lawal Yola, told the governor that two offices were completely razed down by the fire.
According to the permanent secretary, the office of the staff officer and under secretary were the offices seriously affected while the office of the accountant general was partially torched by the fire.
An eyewitness to the incident informed our correspondent that the fire started around 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
