Emir honours 5 governors,
celebrates 11 years
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, is to hounour five
governors with chieftaincy titles as he celebrates his eleven years on the
throne.
They included Bola Tinubu of Lagos, Adamu Mu'azu of Bauchi, Orji Uzor Kalu
of Abia, Peter Odili of Rivers and the host, Bukola Saraki.
Briefing journalists in Ilorin on the activities for the week-long
celebration, the Chairman of the anniversary publicity committee, Alhaji
Saliu Muhammad, said the five governors would be honoured on Nov. 11.
According to him, Tinubu will be honoured with the turban as the Maiyaki of
Ilorin and Odili as the Majidadi, Mu’azu as the Kaigama and Uzor Kalu as the
Dan Galadima while Saraki will receive the title of Turaki of Ilorin.
Muhammad said according to the programme, the four visiting governors will
be honoured with their chieftaincy titles on Saturday, Nov. 11.
According to the programme, the host governor will be honoured with other
indigenes of Ilorin on Friday, Nov. 10.
The indigenes, he said, included Alhaji Kola Belgore, as Jarma of Ilorin, Mr
Lanre Shagaya, as Zanna of Ilorin, Prof. Oba Abdulraheem, as Talba, Justice
Mahmud Belgore, as Wali and Alhaji Bature Sulu-Gambari, as Ciroma.
Muhammad said all the recipients will be honoured by the emir for their
contributions to the development of the country.
Other activities for the 11th anniversary celebration of the emir, who is
the 11th Emir of Ilorin, included entertainment by traditional waka singers
and Islamic lectures from Nov. 6 to Nov. 7.
There will also be a football match between Kwara United FC of Ilorin and
Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan on Nov. 8.
There will be a colourful durbar on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m after the
turban of the governors of Lagos, Bauchi, Abia and Rivers states.
