I am still Governor—Obi
Governor Peter Obi said he is still the state chief executive in spite of the inauguration of Deputy Governor Mrs Virgy Etiaba as Governor.
For Obi such inauguration was illegal.
Addressing the press in his office 30-minutes later (10.45 a.m.), Obi said he remained governor of the state.
He said that what both the chief judge and a faction of the House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Mr Mike Balonwu did leading to the inauguration this morning of Etiaba as governor in her office was illegal.
“As far as I am concerned, what we have in Anambra state today is a case of one governor and one deputy governor, we do not have two governors,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that while Etiaba left her office immediately after being inaugurated, Obi has remained in his office with few security details still attached to him.
NAN further reports that security situation is still normal as government house staff who were all standing outside their offices expressing surprise at the developments.
