Underfire Onyedika keeps
Dolphins job
The constant speculation about the future of Ifeanyi Onyedika at Dolphins
was laid to rest Thursday when Rivers State Governor Peter Odili asked the
FA Cup winning coach to stay on and continue his good work, KICK OFF can
report.
"On behalf of the Government and people of Rivers State, and all genuine
football lovers in this country, I congratulate this unexpected coach that
took Dolphins to great heights," Odili said in appreciation.
"I want to thank you on behalf of the state and say to you and your team
that you have delivered and wea€re not going to let you go anywhere.
"So tell those who have come to poach that there is no vacancy in Rivers
state," he humoured.
Odili then charged Sports Commissioner Allwell Onyesoh to liaise with
Onyedika to put the necessary structures in place to make sure the team is
adequately prepared for the 2007 Confederation Cup.
"I hereby mandate the chief coach (Onyedika) under the supervision of the
commissioner to ensure the present team is kept in tact, and in addition
they should fish out 10 new players to challenge them," he said.
"We are converting the Liberation Stadium to the best in Nigeria. Dolphins
would play their continental matches there and we want them to dominate the
competition," he said.
