... As Runsewe says change in street naming hinders tourism
The Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) says that regular change of street names will distort information on its tourism tour guide.
Chief Olusegun Runsewe, Director-General NTDC said this on Wednesday at the launch of NTDC tour Navigational Phone Maps in Abuja.
He said the corporation’s effort at making the country a tourist destination would be fruitless due to inconsistence in street names.
“We should learn to maintain the names we have on our streets and not to change names at every opportunity.
“What we have in this country is where every government wants major streets and town named after him and this is not good for tourism growth.
He said that the world satellite has captured the street names in existence and any change would create lots of problems for tourists and travelers visiting the NTDC web site.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that NTDC has in the last one year produced street maps for the 36 states and FCT.
