Bauchi ANPP stalwart reacts to opposition’s allegations
From Sule Aliyu, Bauchi
An ANPP stalwart in Bauchi state, Alhaji Danladi Abubakar, has reacted to allegations by some members of the opposition parties, who alleged that governor Yuguda is using public funds to purchase cars for members of his political party.
Danladi Abubakar, who is also the chairman Local government Pension Board said the allegation was baseless because the governor is known for his donation of cars to individuals and organizations even before becoming chief executive of the state.
“Those making this allegation know that it is not true. I want to assure you that most of them benefited from Malam’s gesture before he became governor. It is only a political gimmick, they are not fighting the governor but the masses of Bauchi who are benefiting from the dividends of democracy which had never been visible to them”.
He recalled that former Governor, Ahmadu Muazu at a time bought cars worth over N100 million for individuals not within the state “one would wonder for what purpose, whereas all the cars given by Yuguda are to the citizens of Bauchi state.
On the issue of restraining activities of commercial motorcycles to 6pm, Alhaji Danladi said it is a decision taken at the right time because security reports have shown that it is at dawn that most atrocities are often committed.
Responding on the outcry by some political parties on the shift of election date backward 17 to 10 May, he said for any political party or candidate who was prepared for election, one week is not enough to make him lose his votes because, according to him, preparations for the local government polls have been on for almost a year.
He further assured that no intimidation would make his party (ANPP) to lose elections in Bauchi since it is just and people-oriented.
Alhaji Danladi Abubakar however warned the electorates especially supporters of ANPP to desist from violent acts or incitive and inflammatory utterances, adding that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure free local government polls in the state.
