Democracy Day: Shekarau inaugurates c’ttee today

TOWARDS the successful observation of Nigeria’s Democracy Day that comes up on May 29, 2008, Kano state government has approved the appointment of a committee to coordinate activities and programmes aimed at marking the day.
According to a press statement, issued yesterday and signed by Kabiru Salisu Koki, Press Secretary to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the committee to be headed by Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi, the state commissioner for information, is to be inaugurated today by Governor Ibrahim Shekarau by 4.00 p.m at the conference room, Government House.

Ibrahim Yakasai, commissioner of commerce; Alhaji Garba Yusuf Abubakar, commissioner for environment; Alhaji Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, commissioner for rural and community development; Alhaji Salihu Sagir Takai, commissioner for local government; and Hon. Halliru Danga Maigari, majority leader as members.
Other members are Alhaji Abdullahi Sani Rogo, special adviser political; Hajiya Rabi Sahel; Yusuf A. Yusuf Tabuka; Sunusi Abdullahi Kwanar Huguma, Mukhtari Sale, Jamilu Fagge, Sani Abdullahi Fulatan, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Kankarofi, permanent secretary SS&CAD and Alhaji Muhammd Sabo Kwalli, director protocol, protocol directorate while Umar F. Ibrahim, director REPA, cabinet office Kano, is its secretary.
