Embrace medical profession, don urges female students

A lecturer with the Chemistry Department in the Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, Professor Bashir Lawal has appealed to the female students in the country to pursue medical profession.
Professor Lawal made the appeal at a send-off party organized for graduating doctors of Katsina state indigenes and presentations of awards to deserving indigenes of the state held at the city campus of the university.
He also noted that due to the shortages of the professional doctors in the country, the graduating student have many contributions to offer in the nation’s healthcare sector.
The university don said the call is necessary in view of the fact that there was no female graduate among the eight graduating doctors and urged the graduating doctors to be faithful and kind to their patients.
In an address, the Katsina state Indigenes Forum, Alhaji Aliyu Daura, pledged continued assistant to the medical association in its quest to develop of education.
Alhaji Daura also pledged to facilitate all the association’s requests to the Katsina state government and ensured that it’s members were fully employ after their graduation and commended the Sokoto state government for its effort towards boosting the education sector.
Similarly, the out-going president of the association, Malam Bashir Adamu, expressed gratitude to the members for their support and cooperation and charged them to extend similar gesture to the new executive in order to achieve maximum success.
Among the awardees included the former the chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Correspondent chapel, who is also the secretary of the Sokoto state NUJ, Alhaji Malam Bashir Rabe Mani and three others who excelled in the contributions to the development of the association.
Responding on behalf of the graduating doctors, Dr. Bashir Abdullahi pledged to rededicate themselves towards the service of humanity and commended the efforts of the association for organizing the event in their honor.
