Ex-lawmaker charged for forgery, perjury
From MUSTAPHA SAYE, Kaduna
A FORMER member representing Giwa West constituency in the Kaduna state House of Assembly between 2003-2007, Hon. Hamisu Abubakar Wazata, has been charged to Kaduna Magistrate court for ‘’forgery, falsification of West African School Certificate (WASC) and perjury’’.
According to the polilce First Information Report (FIR), Wazata was alleged to have forged a West African School Certrificate purported to have been issued by Government Day Secondary School, Zaria, in June, 1988 with a centre and candidate number 1246/407 which the accused used to get elected into the Kaduna state House of Assembly under the platform of the PDP.
However, it was discovered that the said examination result which the accused claimed to belong to him, actually belongs to a female student named Samba Kande.
It could be recalled that the former lawmaker is currently the Kaduna state assistant secretary II of PDP who went to the Kaduna state High Court of Justice and sworn an oath, claiming that all the forged documents in his possession are genuine, while in actual fact they are forged and falsified.
According to the prosecting officer, Insepector Divid Agie, the offence is contrary to Section 364, 368 and 148 of the Panel Court, while the accused person pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Subsquently, the Judge, Justice Nasir granted bail to the accused on two sureties
