FG sets up c'ttee on Jos crisis
The federal government has set up a 15-member committee to find an enduring solution to the recurrence of crisis in Jos, the Plateau capital.
The committee was set up at a consultative meeting presided over by Vice President Goodluck Jonathan at the State House, Abuja.
A statement issued on the closed-door meeting said elder statesman and former Plateau governor, Chief Solomon Lar, was appointed chairman while Amb. Yahya Kwande was appointed co-chairman.
The statement signed by Mr Ima Niboro, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Vice President was made available to State House correspondents on Monday.
Other members of the committee are Mrs Hannatu Chollom, Mr John Samci, Prof. N. Gomwalk, Ibrahim Nakande, Amb. Fidelis Tapgun and Sen. John Shagaya.
Sen. Ibrahim Mantu, Hon. Leo Dilkon, Most Rev. I.A. Kaigama, Sheikh Dawud Balarabe, Mrs Fati Kyari, Air Vice Marshal M. U. Abbas and Alhaji Saleh Hassan are also members of the committee.
Niboro stated that the committee is to examine the issues surrounding the recurrent violence in the state.
