Justice comm assures judiciary staff of salary increase

KANO state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barr. Aliyu Umar has assured judicial staff in the state of government’s readiness to increase their salaries.
The Attorney General, who made the remark recently, said the former Chief Judge of the state had since formed a committee to that effect, stating that as soon as the committee submits its report to him, he will forward it to the state government for study on how to implement the increase.
He stressed that the current government in the state will definitely fulfill its promise in that regard, because it is not in its character to fail its promise. The governor will never fail in this issue.
“It is unfortunate how some judicial staff view this salary increment thing let them know that this amount is neither going to be collected from the pocket of the state Chief Judge, nor that of the Attorney General or his Excellency, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau,” he pointed out.
In another development, Kano state acting Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Shehu Atiku, had enjoined members of the Court Registrars Association (CRAN) to adhere strictly to their code of conduct.
According to a release signed by the secretary General of the association, Baba Jibo Ibrahim, Atiku made the call recently when members of the association paid him a courtesy visi in his office.
The acting Chief Judge also commended them in the mature way they have been conducting themselves and urged them to sustain the tempo for the continued development of both the association and the judiciary.
On the issue of new salary structure for the judiciary staff, he said already, a proposed bill has been drafted by the committee of chief judges and same will soon be submitted to the state House of Assembly through the state government, stating that when passed into law, all judicial staff will smile.
He observe that both CRAN and JUSUN have common objectives, but only their approach that differ and suggested that there is the need for the two associations to forget their differences and reconcile with each other so that they will speak with one voice.
In his speech, the stake chairman of CRAN, Malam Salisu Abdul, told the acting Chief Judge that they were in is chamber to once again congratulate him on his appointment and highlight some of the achievements recorded by the association such and the donation of a 22-seater but to them by the state government, promising to reciprocate the gesture by discharging their duties effectively.
