Kano gov to intending pilgrims: Adhere to dos, don’ts of Hajj

Stories by ALIYU YUSUF

Intending pilgrims from Kano state have been charged to strictly adhere to the dos and don’ts of the Hajj exercise while in the Holyland to enable them attain an acceptable Hajj.

Giving the charge while bidding farewell to 516 Kano intending pilgrims at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) last weekend, Governor Ibrahim Shekarau charged them to apply what they learned during the series of seminars conducted for them.

The governor further advised them to ensure that they focus attention on performing the mandatory parts of the exercise so that they can be among those to be forgiven by Allah, saying they should not hesitate to ask questions on anything they are in doubt.

While calling on the intending pilgrims to always be law abiding to the constituted authorities and be good ambassadors of the state and the nation, he also admonished them to cultivate the habit of being patient throughout the period of the exercise.

According to him, all the intending pilgrims should consider such an opportunity of going to Hajj as a golden one, expressing the need for them to be steadfast in prayers not only for themselves but for the humanity, calling on them to be careful on the way they handle and spend their monies.

Shedding more light to pressmen, the governor expressed appreciation to the state Pilgrims Welfare Board, the federal government and all the authorities concerned for the early preparations of this year’s Hajj operation.

On the need to have more slots to the state, he said if possible the state should demand for more than 10,000 seats as against the current 7,000 slots considering its population size and the desire of the Muslims to perform the Hajj exercise.

Earlier, the state Amirul Hajj, retired AIG Bashir Albasu, the District Head of Albasu local government, who expressed appreciation on what the state government had been doing to its pilgrims, had urged the intending pilgrims to reciprocate the gesture by being law abiding while in the Holyland.

Albasu further called on them to be keen in observing all the necessary rules of the Hajj exercise so as to have a Hajj Mabrur.

In a brief remark, the Managing Director of the Meridien Airlines, one of the accredited airliners for this year’s Hajj operations, Alhaji Abbas Tijjani Hashim, while assuring the governor of their determination to meet up with the dateline, expressed appreciation to both the State Pilgrims Welfare Board and the intending pilgrims for the support accorded the company.

On arrival at the airport earlier, the governor was received by the Coordinator, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Baffa Chinade, the Director General of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Sani Lawal Kofar Mata and the state Amirul Hajj, AIG Bashir Albasu as well as members of his committee among others.
