Kano ANPP is single family - Shekarau
Stories by ALIYU YUSUF
Kano under All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) has for the last seven years distinguished itself by its style of leadership seen in the execution of development programmes and projects in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
This assertion was made by Governor Ibrahim Shekarau and Sardaunan Kano during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected executives of the party at the Kano Polo ground, Saturday.
He said before the conduct of the party election not long ago, members and all the stakeholders had done a lot to ensure that consensus was achieved with a view to electing credible people that can move the party to greater heights.
“Today’s gathering is enough to tell everybody that ANPP is a single family that has come together and done away with factions in Kano state, and no one can deny the fact that the leadership of the party has achieved a lot in the last four years unlike the opposition party that finds it difficult to unite itself,” the governor maintained.
While calling on the newly sworn-in leaders to double their efforts in the discharge of their responsibilities in the interest of democratic development, he assured them the continued support of the government at all times.
He further urged all the members of their great party to equally co-operate with the leadership so that good things will continue to happen not only in Kano but in the country at large.
On its part, according to him, the government will not relent in its determined efforts to continue to provide all the goodies to the people in the state, thanking the national members and executives of the party for sparing their time to   attend the occasion as well as for their keen interest on anything that affects the development of the state.
Earlier, the National Chairman of the ANPP, Chief Edwin Ume-Ezeoke, who expressed happiness over the peaceful conduct of the party in the state, had enjoined the new executives to discharge their duties diligently and carry all along in the overall development of the party, the state and the country.
Represented by the party’s National Secretary, Sen. Sa’idu Umar Kumo, the chairman also called on the executives to work closely with the state government for the success of the party in the 2011 general elections.
In his speech, the re-elected state chairman of the party, Hon. Sani Hashim Hotoro said one of the successes recorded by the party in Kano is among other things, the abolition of factions within it, making it to be one and a single family in addition to ensuring peaceful conduct of elections, attributing these to the determination of the leadership and good relationship between them and Governor Shekarau.
He added that for the party to continue to excel, it will adopt the measures it employed in their election in all the coming elections in the state, saying that all the party members will be given the same opportunity to contest for any political position in the coming election and at all levels.
The chairman, who assured the party members of their readiness to carry all along in the discharge of their responsibilities, thanked all those who attended the occasion from far and near and the Kano members who gave them the trust.
