Kano GRASDO appeal to ALGON boss
By ADO SALISU GRASSROOTS Soccer Development Organisation (GRASDO), Kano state chapter has appealed to the state chairman of Association of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGON), Alhaji Danladi Kademi to patronise the association for a successful organisation of the maiden edition of Under-18 inter-local government Soccer Competition tagged: ‘’Governor Shekarau Cup’’.
This appeal was made by the state chairman of GRASDO, Alhaji Garba Abdullahi in a telephone chat with Daily Triumph Sports regarding the preparations of the competition.
According to him, his association has been mandated to revive inter-local government youth championship as part of their contribution towards developing and promoting youth competition in the state.
Alhaji Abdullahi revealed that his association has been organising various youths championships for over two decades, adding that it was part of their social responsibility to assist government toward eradicating vices through sports.
The chairman further said that the GRASDO has already submitted its leter to ALGON chairman soliciting his support and cooperation with a view to organising a befitting and colourful Governor’s Cup.
He said that the present administration led by Malam Ibrahim Shekarau has recorded tremendous achievements since the inception, adding that the maiden edition of the Governor’s Cup will continue to help coaches recruit talented players for future national competitions and all the 44 local government councils in the state are expected to participate in the tournament scheduled for next month.
While commending the state government for its unflinching support, he called on all stakeholders in the state to rally round the government for the progress and development of sports generally.
Alhaji Abdullahi however, expressed appreciation to the state acting governor, Engr. Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo for the keen interest shown in developing grassroots sports, especially football.
The chairman then solicited the cooperation and support of all local government officials in the success of the competition.
