Kebbi police dislodge notorious murder syndicate
The Kebbi Police command has arrested three leaders of a syndicate that specialises in robbing and murdering commercial Motorcyclists.
The Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Mukhtari Ibrahim, told newsmen in Birnin Kebbi yesterday, that Yusha'u Sulieman and Mudashiru Bala,were arrested on Sunday for allegedly murdering a commercial motorcyclist, Aminu Halliru.
"Their intention was to steal his commercial Motorcyce",the Commissioner said. He said Yusha'u Suleiman, after he was arrested by Policemen and vigilante groups stationed near the legislative estate along the Jega bypass in the metropolis, confessed to have stabbed Aminu Halliru.
He said the Police and vigilante members arrested the suspect and his accomplice when the victim raised an alarm but subsequently died from the injuries inflicted on him.
"A post mortem was done and the family of the deceased was duly informed which enabled the burial to take place according to the Islamic injunction.
'' The weapons and Motorcycle at the centre of the matter had been recovered", he said.
He said another member of the syndicate, Abdurahman Dan-Mallam, who received the stolen items had been arrested, adding,"another member of the syndicate was still at large". "A Girl friend to a member of the syndicate had been interrogated and was giving useful information",he said.
