KNSG approves N18m for Mambayya House renovation

KANO state government has granted the request of over N18 million to the Centre for Democratic Research and Training, Mambayya House for the expansion of late Malam Aminu Kano’s living history museum.
Kano state deputy governor, Engr. Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo gave the approval when he received the Governing Board and Management Committee of the Centre on a courtesy visit, yesterday.
Engr. Gwarzo explained that other projects for execution at the Centre include the replacement of the roofing of the late Malam’s House, construction of a modest mosque, installation of 14 number units of air conditioners at the Sa`adu Zungur Auditorium Complex, the construction of a parking space in front of the Centre and re-painting its parameter wall among others.
The deputy governor also pledged to provide the Centre with a vehicle to ease its distant official assignments.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, had said the purpose of the visit was to intimate the government on the activities of the Centre and solicit its assistance for the renovation of the Centre.
He stressed the need to upgrade the facilities at the Centre in view of its role in promoting the ideals of the late Malam.
Alhaji Yakasai also noted government’s tremendous execution of various projects, urging it to continue with the good work in order to meet the aspirations and yearnings of the electorate.
Also in a remark, an elder statesman and chairman Northern Elders Forum, Alhaji (Dr) Magaji Dambatta (OFR), appealed to the general public to cooperate and support the state government in its effort at providing social amenities for the improvement of their living standard.
He cited some of the projects as water supply and improvement of water schemes in both urban and rural areas as well as the completion of road networks by the state government as worthy of commendation and which should be encouraged.
The Director of the Centre, Prof. Haruna Wakili highlighted more on the activities of the Centre, saying that for the past eight years of its establishment, they were able to conduct and organize series of public lectures and many workshops for public officers at both state and local government levels.
He, however, said the Centre is presently compounded with numerous challenges including those of upgrading and expanding of its aging existing physical structures and training facilities.
