KNSG reiterates commitment to equipping health facilities
THE Kano state government has reiterated its commitment towards equipping healthcare centres with all required medical equipment, drugs and consumables among others.
The commissioner for health, Malama Aisha Isyaku Kiru disclosed this while presenting hospital equipment to the management of Tiga and Bebeji General Hospitals and Kiru Primary Healthcare Centre, as their share of the equipment worth N650 million procured by the state government in collaboration with PATH 2 for distribution to 53 health facilities across the state.
Malama Kiru who explained that the present administration has focused attention on human development since its inception to date, where healthcare delivery system of the state has been transformed through building of new hospitals, equipping and renovation of existing ones, recruitment of more staff, procurement of drugs through Drugs Revolving Fund Programme with a view to enhancing the welfare of the citizens.
The commissioner added that the state government will supply more of these.
According to her, apart from the distribution, the distribution committee set up by the government will go round and monitor how the items will be managed by the hospital workers, calling on the workers to reciprocate the gesture by using them properly.
Malama Kiru also thanked the chairmen of Bebeji and Kiru councils, Alhaji Dankaka Usaini Bebeji and Alhaji Ali Datti Yako respectively, for complementing government’s efforts by carrying out renovation and equipment of their respective health facilities.
In their separate remarks, the chairmen gave assurance that they will continue giving maximum support to the activities of the government.
While thanking the state government on behalf of the hospitals, the Zonal Director of Gwarzo, Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu Maikano said the procurement of the equipment will help a lot in boosting their morale in discharging their duties.
In a similar development, the commissioner of health has advised people to always forward their requests through proper channel which will assist government to understand their plight.
Malama Kiru made this remarks while responding to comments made by individuals at the venues of the medical equipment presentation.
The commissioner who said the state government always respects views of the populace, added that the door is always open for constructive criticism that will help it to mend its shortcomings.
She said gone are the days of arm-chair criticism where somebody without clarifying issues go ahead and make unnecessary comments.
Malama Kiru assured that the Kiru Primary Healthcare will be uplifted to general hospital standard while Tiga and Bebeji Hospitals will be among those that benefited from renovation which will commence soon.
The commissioner also enjoined the people of Kiru and Bebeji local government areas to allow their wards, especially female to attend the newly-established School of Health Technology which is under construction at Bebeji local government area aimed at addressing the issue of shortage of staff.
Earlier, one of the community leaders, Malam Adamu Usman of Tiga commended the efforts of the present administration for the priority attention being given to the healthcare services in the state.
