KNSG disburse N5.2m to 13 clubs

KANO state government yesterday disbursed the sum of N5.2million to the 13 amatuer clubs who are representing the state at various national amateur leagues, as part of the state government’s contribution towards the overall development of the game not only in the state but the country at large.
while presenting the cash donation to the clubs, the state commissioner of information, sports and culture, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi revealed that the present adiministration has been contributing positively to the development of sporting activities, especially the football game within and outside the country.
According to the commissioner, the state government is doing its best to improve all the sectors in the state to ensure the comfort of its people.
He further explained that despite the numerous demands, the state government has been able to accommodate various projects as well as its agencies adequately.
Dederi said that the present performance of the state darling team, Kano Pillars FC was an indication of the quality leadership exhibited by Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, adding that at the rate ‘’we are on-going, the state government will leave a legacy as the first administration that wins the Nigerian League.’’
He, however, called on the benefiary clubs to judiciously use the money and pledged that the state government will continue to develop and improve sports in the state.
Earlier speaking, the state Director of Sports (DOS), Alhaji Ibrahim Abba explained that the state government has spent a huge amount of money for the improvement and development of the sporting industry.
He said that the present administration led by Malam Ibrahim Shekarau has been wonderful in terms of sports development, adding that no administration had supported sports development in the past like the present administration.
‘’We are highly delighted with the various progress so far recorded by other sports and the state government is willing and ready to assist them in order to maintain the state’s impressive outing at national and international competitions,’’ the commissioner explained.
Dederi however commended the club owners for their brilliant performance at the on-going national amateur league and charged them to sustain the tempo.
He said that the state government is happy with the performance of the state representatives at national amateur league and congratulated Dankalat FC for securing promotion to the pro-league.
In his response on behalf of the teams, Alhaji Kamilu Muhammad Roller while expressing appreciation to the state government, he called on the government to look into their problems to enable them operate smoothly, adding: ‘’We know there is a lot of burden from the state government, we will appreciate if the state government can tackle some of their problems for the interest of sports development within and outside the state.’’
Roller then commended the state governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau for his tireless support to the state darling team, Kano Pillars FC in the on-going Premier League and pledged that all the clubs in the state would continue to give the state government maximum support toward acheving the desired goal.
‘’ if the state government can tackle our problems, l am sure that the state will dominate all the set of competitions. The state is blessed with skillful and talented players who are equally good not only in representing the state but the country in general,’’ Roller concluded.
The beneficiaries teams include Kano United, Cosmos United, Dabo Babes, Soccer Strikers, Tahir Babes, One Touch, Arsenal, Dankalat, Emirate FC, Good Hope, Admirals, Orlu United and the state Football Association (FA).
