Land tussle: Court fixes June 25 for mention
By OUR REPORTER
A Kano state High Court has slated June 25 for further mention into a case between one Abubakar Ibrahim and Alhaji Adamu Sani (plaintiffs), Kano state judiciary, Chief Judge and the Chief Registar, Kano High Court (defendants) over two plots of land situated at Nomandsland, Kano.
According to their endorsement of claim, the plaintiffs alleged that they are the allottees and rightful owners of the said plots which are now covered by Certificates of Occupancy Number LKN/Com/2008/98 and LKN/COM/2/2008/97 and further obtained building approval together with the drawings from the relevant authorities upon payment of the prescribed fees required by law.
They, however, claimed that on November 10, 2008 they were informed that the second and third defendants who were the Chief Judge and the Chief Registrar while on inspection tour, allocated the two plots to the forth defendant to construct public convenience, stating that the second plaintiff on that same day rushed to the office of the third defendant who informed him that it was the 2nd defendant that allocated the plots to the forth defendant.
The plaintiffs alleged that they wrote a complaint letter through a law firm of Messrs Ishaku Y. Haliru and Co to the second defendant, drawing his attention to the issue, but received no response and instead the agents of the defendants erected sign posts at the sits, claiming that the whole piece of land consisting of about 14 plots including those of the first and second plaintiffs belong to the first defendant.
The plaintiffs claimed that sometimes December 27-28, 2008, agents of the first defendant acting on the instruction of the third defendant destroyed the structures they erected.Land tussle: Court fixes June 25 for mention
